I am liza. I make art. I'd like to tell you I
pay special attention to
things like form and color, or that I have a grand scheme for changing the world, or that I'm developing a
new concept that will blow your mind. The truth is... I make art because I have to make art, and even if I
never painted a single thing I would still be an artist. It's not that I have no concepts or intentions, I
do...but they are often-times more broad and less defined than could be easily specified with a few well
placed tri-sylabic words. Even if I make them up.
I try, I suppose, to be
sincere and transparent, to raise
many questions and provide few answers...to give an outsider a sense of my inner world. I use art to
exorcize my demons and face my own ambiguity, and once in a rare moment succeed in connecting with someone
else - in bridging the unbridgeable gap between myself and another human being by a mostly accidental
expression of a small bit of truth. Truth - that's what I search for - that's what I hope to convey, in
whatever small and humble manner I am able. I want people to feel something when they see my work. I want
people to know me through it. I want to become connected with something other than myself through it. But
mostly, I just want to, I need to create. I am what I am so that I may do - and making things is, I have no
doubt, one of the things I am to do.
